And while the main story isn't so bad, there are side missions that you can do which vary wildly in quality. Far more enemies are thrown at you than in the previous games, so dread never builds up, and there also isn't quite enough enemy variety to keep things particularly interesting. There's a new resources and weapon crafting system that offers a lot of cool possibilities, and it's great fun to blast necromorphs with these weapons, but a lot of the enemy encounters feel repetitive and boring. ![]() Gameplay in Dead Space 3 is a double-edged sword. Music is fine and serviceable, but generally more actiony in nature, and not creepy and tense like the previous games. Dead Space 3 gives you a lot of answers to many of the questions brought up in the first two games, and there are some cool developments and a decent sense of closure by the end. Art direction and atmosphere are almost as good as in the first two games as well, which is appreciated. The pacing isn't always great, some parts feel a bit forced, and there's a laughably bad love triangle subplot, but overall it's interesting and compelling, and the voice acting is reasonably strong. However, if you don't expect the same experience as Dead Space 1 and 2, you'll probably still have fun. ![]() The game just isn't scary like the others I never felt significant anxiety or dread, and the only couple of jump scares that got me were dumb instances of random necromorphs popping out of the snow. Unlike 1 and 2, Dead Space 3 feels much less like a horror action-shooter and more like a third person shooter with horror elements. Dead Space 3 is a good game, but not a good Dead Space game.
